On Wednesday, in what has become a Virgin Islands tradition, the young and future voters of our territory voiced their choice for Governor and Lt. Governor. I am proud to report that Governor John deJongh and Lt. Governor Greg Francis dominated the mock election held by the students of Charlotte Amalie High School. The Governor and Lt. Governor received a solid 56% of the vote compared to only 44% for the Mapp-Sekou team. This news comes in addition to the deJongh-Francis team winning the
Sts. Peter and Paul School 74% to 25% and the Moravian School 65% to 29% for an impressive day at the polls.

Of course, the most important and final poll will obviously be on Election Day, November 2nd, but what may be considered the second most important poll is the choice made by our young people and the future voters of our islands. Wednesday's mock elections allowed our students to say who they believe the best candidates are when it comes to their future and today they said loud and clear that they support the re-election of their Governor and Lt. Governor.
With all the misrepresentation of polling numbers that has been going on by our opposition, including their now exposed false claims about an “independent poll” it is nice to see a completely objective and unbiased set of results and just as important I want to highlight the fact that for the students at Charlotte Amalie High School have been on the mark each and every time when it comes to selecting their Governor since 1970 and we fully expect that they will be correct once again when Election Day arrives this Tuesday.
In the closing days of this campaign, we must continue to garner all the support we can for Governor de Jongh and Lt. Governor Francis. By working together over the next few days, we can ensure that John and Greg will be victorious on November 2nd and will continue building a better future for all Virgin Islanders. |
