James, who ran unsuccessfully for the party's nomination in the September Primary, said he was pleased to have the opportunity to endorse Governor de Jongh and Lt. Governor Francis' re-election bid as they "are the most viable of the candidates to continue the great progress that is taking shape in the Virgin Islands." James said while there are challenges on many fronts, Governor de Jongh has made significant inroads in tackling issues such as improvement in the education of our young people, and economic development and diversification. "We have seen the progress and it is time for us to support the de Jongh-Francis team to ensure that this progress goes forward without interruption."
Today's endorsement by former Lt. Governor Gerard "Luz" James adds to those previously received from U.S. President Barack Obama, former Virgin Islands First Lady Luz Luis and various media organizations, including the St. Croix Avis and Virgin Islands Source.
De Jongh-Francis 2010 Territorial Chairman Robert O'Connor added, "During these final days, as we have gotten closer and closer to Election Day, the campaign has continued to see more and more organizations and individuals step forward to re-affirm the great strides made by the de Jongh-Francis Administration and to throw their support behind John and Greg for four more years of progress. This has energized our entire campaign organization ahead of what we know will be a great day at the polls tomorrow. We could not be more pleased." |
